The City of Chicago is seeking environmentally friendly bird house designs from adult and youth designers both professional and novice for its first Tweet Home Chicago competition to call attention to the importance of birds and their habitat in the city.
The entries, due April 16, are expected to showcase a wide variety of designs for one of eight regional bird species and may be inspired by bird-friendly
habitat around Chicago. Awards include cash prizes and bonus prizes related to birding and nature in the Chicagoland area. The houses will be displayed at public
venues, installed near Chicago Park District field houses, and/or
auctioned to raise money for bird conservation efforts in the city.
Two categories of entries (an adult and a youth division) are being accepted. The Tweet Home Chicago panel of judges will consist of professionals from the design, art, and conservation communities.
